THE ROAD

The freedom of the American open road has been a powerful image for generations on both sides of the Atlantic, representing for some an ideal of self-discovery or even a path to redemption. Tracing back generations, the dream of hitting the road has had profound impacts upon society and now holds a contemporary nostalgia and air of mystery which continues the romanticised allure of the West. This collection of work seeks to explore questions associated with the ideal of the road; is what lays beyond the desert mirage when the road finally runs out any different to what is left behind in the first place?
